This morning, we gathered for ST Logistics Partners’ Safety Day 2024, an important event dedicated to deepening our understanding of workplace safety and partner collaboration to create a safer environment for everyone.
This year’s theme, “Empowering Workplace Safety and Health For Business Sustainability,” aligns perfectly with our safety strategy, driven by a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
In his opening address, COO Mr Fun Kum Wah emphasised the importance of safety in our journey toward business sustainability, especially in light of recent safety breaches across various industries.
Mr Fun reminded everyone that safety is something we can never take for granted, and we must never let down our guard. Moreover, as SkillsFuture Queen Bee for Supply Chain, ST Logistics is committed to leading by example and supporting our partners in upholding the highest safety standards.
Participants had the privilege of hearing from a distinguished lineup of speakers, each highly accomplished in their field:
– Ms Daphne Yeo from the Workplace Safety and Health Council presented on “Total Workplace Safety & Health,” providing insights into the comprehensive strategies needed to maintain safety across all operations.
– Mr R K Jaggi, Director of the National Safety Council, delivered an engaging session, “A Safe Workplace Starts with an Engaged Workforce,” highlighting the critical role of workforce engagement in maintaining workplace safety.
– Mr Goh Young Kwang from Solo Pte Ltd discussed “Safety in Mobility,” where he shared the use of advanced cameras and radar-based sensors to detect and avoid collisions in commercial and logistics vehicles.
– Mr Mohammed Ridzuan from NSL OilChem Waste Management provided a deep dive into “Industrial Toxic Waste Management,” offering practical strategies to mitigate risks and hazards, ensuring staff are well-prepared for emergencies.
– Closing the speaker sessions, ST Logistics Workforce Development Manager, Mr Seah Kok Jim, used captivating storytelling to present “Leveraging on Technology Gains and Support Schemes to Enhance Safety at Workplace” and urged organisations to tap into government incentives and training grants to reinforce workplace safety.
Participants had the opportunity to network and share experiences in championing safety in their respective roles.
